Diamondhead Policy Captain John Luther has confirmed that a local resident has fallen victim to a telephone scam from a criminal posing as a Microsoft agent...

Earlier this week, Diamondhead Policy Captain John Luther confirmed that a local resident accepted a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft tech support. According to the fake tech support agent, the Diamondhead man's computer was at risk of being hacked. After a short conversation, the Diamondhead man allowed the scam agent to remotely login to his computer. An hour later, the crook locked the computer and demanded payment before it would be unlocked.

Our advice is to never allow someone to login to your computer unless you know and trust them. If you suspect that you've been a victim of a scam artist, immediately contact your local police department. You may also want to file a report with the Federal Trade Commission and the FBI (links below) as well.
